Terms of Use & License Agreement
Anchor — Stay Focused · Last updated: July 20, 2026
This Agreement is between you and the developer of Anchor — Stay Focused ("Anchor", "we", "us"). By installing or using Anchor, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not install or use it.
1. Licence granted
Anchor is licensed to you, not sold. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Anchor on browsers you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use.
2. What you may not do
- Copy, redistribute, resell, sublicense, or rent Anchor or any part of it.
- Modify, decompile, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from Anchor, except where such restriction is prohibited by law.
- Remove or obscure any copyright, branding, or attribution notices.
- Share, publish, or resell an Anchor Pro licence key, or attempt to generate, forge, or circumvent licence keys or payment.
- Use Anchor to break the law, or to restrict or monitor another person's browsing without their knowledge and consent.
3. Anchor Pro and payment
Anchor's core protection is free. Anchor Pro is an optional one-time purchase that unlocks additional features. Payment is processed by Stripe; we never receive or store your card details. After payment you receive a licence key which activates Pro.
Licence key
Your key is personal to you. It is your proof of purchase — keep it safe. Keys found to be shared publicly or used fraudulently may be deactivated.
No refunds
All purchases are final. Anchor Pro is non-refundable. Anchor is free to install and use before you buy, so you can confirm it works on your setup and suits your needs first. Please make sure you're happy with the free version before purchasing Pro.
This does not affect any rights you may have under mandatory consumer law in your country that cannot be waived by agreement.
4. What Anchor is — and is not
Anchor is a self-control and content-filtering tool. It is not a medical device, therapy, or treatment, and it does not provide medical or psychological advice. If you are struggling, please speak with a qualified doctor or therapist.
No content filter is perfect. Anchor uses blocklists, heuristics, and an on-device AI model, all of which can make mistakes: some unwanted content may get through, and some harmless content may be blocked or blurred. Anchor also cannot control other browsers, devices, apps, or accounts. You remain responsible for your own choices and for how you use the software.
5. Availability of online features
Certain optional features rely on our website and third-party services — licence verification, emailing an unlock code to a chosen contact, the calming sound library, feedback delivery, and the featured video. These may be changed, interrupted, or discontinued. Core blocking works offline and on your device.
6. Your content
Notes, journal entries, block lists, and statistics you create in Anchor are yours and are stored on your device. We claim no ownership of them. See the Privacy Policy for how data is handled.
7. Ownership
Anchor, its name, branding, design, and code are owned by the developer and protected by copyright. All rights not expressly granted here are reserved. Third-party components remain the property of their respective owners (see section 11).
8. Warranty disclaimer
Anchor is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. You use Anchor at your own risk.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost data, lost profits, or content that Anchor failed to block. Our total liability for any claim relating to Anchor is limited to the amount you actually paid for Anchor Pro (if anything). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
10. Termination
This licence ends if you stop using Anchor or if you breach these terms. You may end it at any time by uninstalling the extension. Sections 7 through 9 survive termination.
11. Third-party components
Anchor includes open-source software, used under their respective licences and remaining the property of their authors:
- TensorFlow.js — © Google LLC, Apache License 2.0.
- NSFWJS — © Infinite Red, Inc., MIT License. Used for on-device image classification.
- Fraunces, Inter, IBM Plex Mono — SIL Open Font License 1.1.
The featured video on Anchor's "Why this matters" page is the property of its creator, embedded with attribution via YouTube. Anchor claims no ownership of it.
12. Changes to this Agreement
We may update these terms. The current version will always be posted at this address with the date above. Continuing to use Anchor after a change means you accept the updated terms.
13. Governing law
This Agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing here removes consumer protections you are guaranteed in your country of residence.
